About Me

I grew up in California and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design from California State University Northridge and a Master of Fine Arts in Painting/Drawing, from the University of North Texas, Denton.

Currently I am working on my Ph.D. in design at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. My research topic, The Foundations of Design: How Line Creates Style examines the relationship between the visual features of drawings and an art style with the intent of developing ways to use the ranking of visual features as a teaching tool for drawing.

My research connects human perception, machine vision, image processing, image statistics and art historical drawings, demonstrating my own interest in design education with a broad base.

I have lived and worked in many cities in the United States, Czech Republic, Russia and Japan.
